My Great Canon Experience

My husband and I have invested in Canon cameras, camcorders, lenses, flashes, etc. for many years, and until recently, nothing has ever gone wrong with our various purchases, so we have never had occasion to test Canon's level of customer service.

Our home had always been in the dry climate of Southern California, then we moved to humid north-east Texas and after a while I began to have problems with my "purse camera", a Canon Powershot S500 Digital Elph. Somehow, the more humid environment was effecting the CCD in the camera and preventing the digital imaging from working.

I called Canon, but I didn't expect much because I bought the camera in March 2004 -- seven years ago. Was I wrong! Canon assured me that it could be fixed at absolutely no charge to me.

They emailed me all the necessary documentation including free UPS shipping labels and within just a few hours, my camera was on its way back to Canon to be fixed.

Unbelievable customer service!

Hence, I Have No Hesitation In Recommending...

From my own personal experience I have no hesitation in recommending anything bearing the Canon name.

I've recently been researching cameras for an upcoming birthday gift for a grandson and I have settled upon the Canon Powershot A1200 12.1 MO Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom.

The camera is available in both black and silver and comes equipped with an optical viewfinder (something that, for some inexplicable reason, is becoming very hard to find), as well as a 2.7 inch LCD screen and a 4x wide-angle optical zoom.

The LCD screen is bright and clear and provides a wealth of information covering your intended shots.

Detailed Specifications:

  • 12.1 megapixels, 4x wide-angle optical zoom (28mm), and optical viewfinder
  • Smart Auto intelligently selects settings from 32 predefined shooting situations
  • Record movies with 720p HD video
  • AA battery power enables you to easily power up on the go
  • Discreet Mode disables the sound, flash and AF beam for use in quiet areas
  • 12.1 megapixel
  • 2.7-Inch LCD
  • 4x wide-angle optical zoom (28mm)
  • High-definition 720 video
  • Optical viewfinder makes capturing images simple & easy

Smart Auto Option

For most photographs, all you need to do is set the camera to the Smart Auto Option and click away. This feature allows you to concentrate totally on the subject you are photographing and truly let the camera do all the work for you.

In the blink of an eye, it analyzes each individual situation and the shooting conditions and automatically selects the appropriate settings for optimal quality from 32 pre-defined set-ups.

Settings you can select yourself include:

  • Live view control
  • Creative filters
  • Fisheye effects
  • Miniature effect
  • Toy camera effect
  • Monochrome
  • Super vivid
  • Poster effect
  • Blur reduction
  • Portrait
  • Landscape
  • Kids and pets
  • Smart shutter
  • Low light
  • Beach
  • Foliage
  • Snow
  • Fireworks
  • Long shutter
  • Discreet mode

Unbeatable Value

As I said earlier, all my family's cameras, camcorders and add-on equipment have been Canon for a number of years and I recommend the Canon name without hesitation.

I have reviewed the PowerShot A1200 because it happens to be a camera I've just researched in depth and purchased myself as a gift, Canon has many more cameras, camcorders and accessories.

I bought from Amazon (as I usually do). Their price is the best I was able to find during my research and they offer Free SuperSaver Shipping, and in most states, no sales tax.
